Oh no…Captcha!
November 18, 2009
I do apologize to my true commenters but I have had to resort to Captcha on Philtopia because I am filtering out 20-30 russian spam comments a day for 4 or 5 true comments.
Captcha will appear on adding comments and registering to be a new user however Captcha is disabled if you become a registered user. I hate captcha’s but I’m getting littered with e-mails about bogus comments throughout the day so I had to add it to save my sanity!
Thanks again, Â King Phil

Has this experience made you hate CAPTCHAs any less? It’s easy to flamboyantly spew CAPTCHA hate as an end-user but it’s really quite a different kettle of fish for a service provider, isn’t it?
I just hate the super tiny ones that even I as a human cannot decipher but yes I do appreciate them more being on the other side.
Is Akismnt, Bad Behavior, or other spam fighters failing you? I’ve found I normally use a spam fighting plugin OR CAPTCHA’s. I don’t mind them all that much, I would rather enter a CAPTCHA then have to look through spam comments.
Well personally I just do not trust spam filters because occasionally you always get good stuff lost in them and having to review them and train them is just a pain in the ass. I will admit that since I implemented Captcha my inbox has been much quieter and I am enjoying that very much. 🙂
Captcha, you have won me over.
